About Pablo

Pablo Mielgo, conductor from Madrid, has been artistic and musical director of the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears (OSIB) since 2014, and has just been appointed music director of the Florida Grand Opera (FGO). He has conducted both major international orchestras and the most prestigious halls in the world.

He has collaborated with numerous international artists such as Juan Diego Flórez, Franz Peter Zimmerman, Pinchas Zukerman, Nadine Sierra, Sondra Radnanovsky, Leo Nucci, Katia Buniatishvili, Pretty Yende, Lise Davidsen, Guidon Kremer or Emmanuel Pahud.

FLORIDA GRAND OPERA'S NEW MUSIC DIRECTOR

Florida Grand Opera (FGO) is proud to announce the appointment of internationally renowned conductor Pablo Mielgo as its new Music Director. Working closely with Maria Todaro, FGO's Managing Director and CEO, Mielgo will lead the creation of Florida Grand Opera's new resident orchestra-a bold initiative that reaffirms the company's commitment to musical excellence and marks a powerful new era for one of the nation's oldest and most iconic cultural institutions.

GREAT SUCCESS AT THE LICEU THEATER WITH NADINE SIERRA

The cancellation, for personal reasons, of the South African soprano Pretty Yende, transformed the long-awaited duo concert with the also American soprano Nadine Sierra -a program premiered in Paris under the baton of Giacomo Sagripanti and later reprised with Pablo Mielgo on the podium in Madrid, Vienna, Budapest and Llucmajor (where Yende could not perform)- into a great solo concert in which Sierra dazzled the Liceu audience in each and every one of her interventions. His colossal performance will be remembered for a long time, not only for his spectacular coloratura, with an astonishing fiato, brilliance in the treble and good taste in the ornamentations. What Sierra did in her return to the Liceu after her memorable Violetta in La traviata last January went much further, as she put all that technical arsenal at the service of an art in singing of overflowing beauty, expressiveness, lyricism and generosity. If we add the sympathy, the mastery of the stage and the complicity with Mielgo, we have the perfect cocktail of a wonderful and unforgettable concert.

Estius simfònics 2025 at the castell de bellver

In this edition, the Symphony will offer four concerts between June 26 and July 17, 2025 under the baton of the resident conductor Pablo Mielgo. The OSIB will feature top artists such as pianist Denis Kozhukhin, tenor Celso Albelo, Menorcan bass Simón Orfila, clarinetist Joan Enric Lluna and conductor Leopold Hager.

A summer full of music in a historic setting with unique acoustics. The summer festival is completed with a traditional concert in the vineyard for more than a thousand people, and the exclusive Cap Rocat Music Festival with the presence of international stars such as Anna Netrebko.
