Tosca closes the Cap Rocat Festival with a unique cast

The Cap Rocat Festival will close its 2026 edition with a top-level production of Puccini's Tosca, conducted by Pablo Mielgo and starring Lise Davidsen, Freddie De Tommaso and Ludovic Tézier — three of the most relevant voices on today's operatic stage.

The Cap Rocat Festival, one of the most distinctive operatic events of the European summer, will bring its 2026 edition to a close with a production of Giacomo Puccini's Tosca that brings together a hardly matchable cast on a single stage. The evening, conducted by Pablo Mielgo at the head of the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears, will take place in the spectacular setting of the Cap Rocat fortress, overlooking the sea.

Heading the cast is Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen, one of the most acclaimed Wagnerian and verismo voices of her generation, in the title role of Floria Tosca. She is joined by Anglo-Italian tenor Freddie De Tommaso — recognised as one of the great lyric tenors of the moment — as Mario Cavaradossi, while French baritone Ludovic Tézier, an absolute reference in the Verdi and Puccini repertoire, will embody Baron Scarpia.

The choice of Tosca to close the festival is no accident: Puccini's masterpiece, with its dramatic intensity and extreme vocal demands, becomes the ideal vehicle to showcase the power of a top international cast in a setting as unusual as it is evocative. Mielgo, a deep connoisseur of the Italian repertoire, will deliver a carefully shaped reading of the score, attentive both to lyricism and to theatrical pulse.

The performance is part of the Cap Rocat Festival's commitment to presenting major operatic titles in productions specially conceived for the venue, with a limited number of seats and an artistic experience that combines high musical quality, intimacy and a privileged natural setting. Tickets will be available through the festival's official website.
