OSIB presents its 2026/27 season

The Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears presents its 2026–2027 subscription season with eleven concerts at the Palma Auditorium, all conducted by Pablo Mielgo and featuring international soloists.

The Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears (OSIB) has presented its 2026–2027 subscription season, which will include a total of eleven concerts at the Palma Auditorium, all at 8 p.m. The programme combines works from the universal repertoire with premieres and performances by international soloists and conductors.

The season will open on 8 October with cellist Kian Soltani performing Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto alongside Richard Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra. The closing concert will take place on 6 May 2027 with flautist Emmanuel Pahud, in a programme that includes Mozart's Andante for Flute and Orchestra, Guinovart's Flute Concerto No. 2 and Brahms's Symphony No. 2. Both concerts will be conducted by the orchestra's chief conductor, Pablo Mielgo.

Great works and guest soloists

Throughout the season, works such as Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 1, Mahler's Symphony No. 4, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 2 "Little Russia" and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade will be performed, alongside scores by Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius, Ravel, Prokofiev, Mozart and Rossini.

Among the invited artists are guitarist José María Gallardo del Rey; trombonist Ian Bousfield; pianists Juan Floristán, Andrei Gavrilov and Eva Gevorgyan; violinists Ellinor D'Melon and Sayaka Shoji; and Mallorcan soprano Marta Bauzà.

The programme also includes Joseph Haydn's The Creation, featuring the participation of Mallorcan soprano Irene Mas, baritone José Antonio López, tenor David Alegret and the Cor de la Universitat de les Illes Balears.

Balearic talent and guest conductors

The season also includes works linked to the Balearic Islands, such as Gabriel Estarellas's The Fairy Island.

In addition to Pablo Mielgo, guest conductors Gianna Fratta, Guillermo García Calvo, Lorenzo Passerini and Michal Nesterowicz will take part.

With nearly four decades of history, the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears carries out artistic activity both within and beyond the archipelago, with performances in European halls and collaborations with international performers.
